Educators from Washoe County had the opportunity to present on the Core Task implementation Project (CTiP) at the International Reading Association’s Annual Conference in New Orleans. Their symposium focused on “Embracing the Common Core Shifts: An Inquiry-Driven Model for Sustainable Change.”
The CTiP functions as a cross-school Professional Learning Community, employing the Plan-Do-Study-Act cycle. Using free and vetted resources teachers plan lessons, reflect on student work, engage in professional learning and plan again for lessons to be taught between meetings. The work incorporate the Instructional Shifts required of the Common Core and has proven to be a successful and replicable model for site-based learning.
